Here are answers to our most frequently asked questions.
When can we return our gifts?
Gifts must be returned to Woodlands Church on December 12 by 11:30 a.m. to insure that they are delivered to the child on time.
What if we can't return our gifts on December 12th?
Please call us at 936-689-5190 to schedule a time to drop off your gifts.
Do we need to purchase both an outfit and a toy?
We have committed to provide each child with a new outfit and a new toy. If you want to shop for only one of the items just let a volunteer know and we will make sure the other item is purchased.
Do we need to wrap our gifts?
Yes. Please wrap the outfit and the toy separately. Place the angel on top of the first gift and write the angel number on the second box. Bind both gifts together.
Can I adopt an entire family?
Yes. Families are grouped together on the tree or you may call us at 936-689-5190.
What if I know someone who needs help?
If you know someone who needs assistance please call 936-442-5680. A volunteer will call you back.
How do we identify the children we serve?
Our Angel Tree leadership team works with local schools and organizations to find the children we serve. We have learned over the years that the school counselors and teachers know which students need the most assistance. We impact our local community when we tap into those families through a relationship at the school. We also work with other ministries and social service organizations to find children who need help. Our goal in the ministry is to serve in locations where no other support is readily available.
What criteria is used to validate the wish item for the children?
Our volunteer team checks each wish item to insure that it is not morally offensive and that the item requested is under $30. Many of the children we serve have access to gaming systems and they will ask for games. Angel Tree donors do not provide the actual gaming system however, we do not limit their ability to request a game or an accessory. Exceptions to the pricing limitations are reviewed on a case by case basis to determine what is in the best interest of the child and donor. Our program provides a limited number of bicycles each year that exceed the $30 limit. This exception has been requested by many of our donors.
